Infertility Mantras or Fertility Mantras – Your Choice
January 19th, 2021 | 7 min. read
Infertility has been likened to a rollercoaster, a merry-go-round (though it's hard to find the merry when you’re in the middle of it), a see saw and many other analogies. You get the idea - lots of ups, downs, swoops around, and general uncertainty.
Because of this, life can feel out of control.
One understatement of enormous proportions is this: infertility can take a toll on your emotional wellbeing. Well, yes. (duh.)If you’re generally a cheerful, upbeat person, you may have looked in the mirror and found yourself shrieking in horror. While in the past, you may have had the capacity to feel generously towards others even when feeling sad for yourself, that’s just not there right now.
You look in that mirror and you may feel smaller than normal, less kind, less able to empathize. A happy and fulfilling life may not feel nearly as possible after fertility losses, including not conceiving when you’re ready.
My suggestion? Try a mantra.
Five Reasons to try a Mantra
It’s simple.
You just want to feel like yourself again, especially in the midst of the uncertainty of fertility treatment or trying to conceive on your own.
A mantra offers a way to change things up. For the better.
Plus, it's one tool with these five perfect side effects:
- It's Free! Zero pressure on the budget.
- Zero calories - no guilt!
- Alcohol-free - so it doesn’t interfere with fertility treatment.
- Caffeine-free - so it won't give you the jitters!
- No special equipment needed.
Plus, a mantra is one tool that you can use anywhere, anytime, with no restrictions.
Mantras for Fertility Support
A positive affirmation (a form of mantra, which leads to meditation) can be life-changing. That’s how powerful they are. One truth - what we repeatedly tell ourselves can become our reality. The good news? How we choose to see ourselves is within our own power.
Positive affirmations said as mantras are powerful. A mantra is a statement that we repeat that aids in concentration and focus. It becomes a meditation, regardless of where you are or how long you repeat the mantra.
This phrase that you repeat to yourself can become your reality, or, at the very least, help you to see yourself in a positive light. You can make the choice to take one minute and break the cycle of negative feelings, regardless of the circumstances you may feel caught up in.
How Do Mantras Work?
A mantra is a statement that we repeat, out loud or silently, in our mind's eye, that aids in concentration and focus. It flows into a meditation, regardless of where you are or how long you repeat it. Spending one minute breathing in and breathing out while focusing on your mantra is a relaxation exercise that you can do almost anytime, anywhere. It is an emotional exercise with specific benefits that include quieting your panic response to news that feels startling, good or bad, and slowing your heart rate down.
How to Implement A Fertility Mantra & Positive Affirmations
To begin a positive affirmation practice, choose a statement that you will make to yourself on your breath in. This is said in present tense: “I am” rather than “I will be." You are making a choice to be this, right now. Even if it’s not how you feel. For that inhale, it’s your reality. There’s also a statement that you will make to yourself on the exhale.
Here are some positive affirmation suggestions:
-
I am breathing in life and love
-
I am present in my own life
-
I am wide awake and alert
-
I am a vibrant, healthy human being
-
I am strong and healthy
-
I am capable and loving
-
I am loved and I am loving
-
I am beautiful, healthy and alive
-
I am content in my present moment
-
I am happy to be alive
-
I am my breath and that is healing
-
I am seeing clearly my own heartbeat
-
I turn my face, my heart and my breath to the light
-
I am satisfied right now
-
I am whole and complete
For your exhale, you can either pick a release phrase, or chose another positive affirmation. Some people choose two positive affirmations, and others prefer to use a choice from below to create a release. Neither is more correct than the other, nor is one more effective than the other. Try it both ways and see what suits you better. What soothes you most is the right choice for you.
- I release my frustrations
-
I let go of disappointment
-
I free myself of fear
-
I forgive myself for mistakes that I have made
-
I heal with every breath out
-
I let my breath carry me home
-
I let go of emotions that are old and stale
-
I release expectations
-
I let go of resentments towards myself and others
-
I heal because I am capable
-
I forgive and accept myself as I am
-
I release all energy that does not serve me
-
I feel the power of sweeping things out in my exhalation
-
I let go and trust that I am safe
-
I relinquish the need to be in charge
My recommendation? Repeat your mantra for one minute every hour, for a minimum of 3 times a day - and see how it makes you feel.
Fertility Mantra Meditation Best Practices
- Set your timer on your phone.
-
Close your eyes for sixty seconds.
-
Breathe a positive affirmation in, release on the exhale.
-
Take sixty seconds, every hour, or as often as you can, to give yourself this gift.
(If you are at work, try going to the bathroom for a change of scenery. Bathrooms are amazing places for meditation!)
A closing note: It doesn’t actually matter if you don’t believe it right now - it’s really ok if you don’t. You will likely find that you believe it a little bit more, each time you repeat it. Mantras are proven and effective. Take a break, and close your eyes. Tell yourself something wonderful, uplifting, and loving.
