Intrauterine insemination (IUI) involves placing a concentrated semen sample in the uterine cavity to maximize your chances of conception.

After your full fertility evaluation and a consultation with your doctor, you will discuss your fertility treatment options and decide where to begin. If you struggle with irregular menstrual cycles, endometriosis, unexplained infertility or PCOS, IUI may be a great place to start.

With the IUI Opportunity Plan, patients who do not have any insurance coverage can pay one price for up to three cycles of intrauterine insemination with oral and injectable medications. 

After you become a patient, you will also be assigned an Insurance & Billing Advocate to help you navigate the cost of your treatment cycle.

Most physicians recommend between three to six IUI attempts (if there are no underlying problems such as blocked fallopian tubes) before moving on to more advanced treatment like IVF.

IUI success rates typically range from 5-15% per cycle, depending on the situation. Age plays a big role in predicting success, as do other important factors including underlying diagnoses, your specific medical history, and the medication being used to stimulate your ovaries.

1. Ovulation induction (or stimulation) - This first step of the IUI process helps you achieve healthy ovulation in order to increase your chance of a successful pregnancy.
2. Monitoring your progress - After you begin your medication protocol, your progress will be monitored via transvaginal ultrasounds and bloodwork to ensure optimal timing of your insemination procedure.
3. Insemination - Once your follicles have matured, a short, painless in-office procedure places sperm close to the uterus for your best chances of conception.

The answer to this depends entirely on your insurance plan. Some plans require you to complete a certain number of IUI cycles before attempting IVF, while others let you skip straight to IVF if needed. Each Illume Fertility patient is assigned a dedicated Insurance & Billing Advocate who will help you understand your personal insurance coverage.

During the ovarian stimulation phase of your IUI treatment cycle, you will typically come in for two appointments to measure the readiness of your follicles (eggs) and hormone levels via ultrasound and bloodwork. 

Once your follicles are mature, your doctor will instruct you to take your HCG trigger shot, and return 24-36 hours later for your insemination procedure. After insemination, you will wait two weeks, then return for bloodwork that will check for pregnancy.
