What is National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW)?

National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) is an annual event founded in 1989 by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association. Held every April, RESOLVE and its partners offer both in-person and virtual opportunities to participate.

NIAW is dedicated to fostering community, dispelling myths, sharing stories, and pushing for progress - with the firm belief that everyone deserves the chance to build a family.

The Whole Story

Too often, infertility is treated as a private struggle — something many people feel they have to navigate in silence. But every person facing that challenge has a story that deserves to be told in full.

This National Infertility Awareness Week, we are proud to present The Whole Story, a storytelling and education campaign aligned with RESOLVE's 2026 theme, #MoreThan.

Because fertility journeys are about more than diagnoses, treatment plans, or outcomes. They're about resilience, identity, relationships, grief, hope, and the many different ways people build families.

Throughout the week of April 19–25, we'll be sharing real patient stories, empowering information, and expert insights to reduce stigma, build community, and remind you that you're not alone.

Through the Years

Every year, Illume patients open up about their fertility journeys — the struggles, the turning points, and the moments that made it all worth it.

Need a little hope? Explore our previous NIAW campaigns.

I share my story to remind others that even when it feels like it’s going to last forever, everything is temporary. Take things one day at a time, and it will all fall into place.

The more I shared, the more people reached out to confide in me about their own fertility struggles and thank me for shedding light on a topic that still feels taboo.

I had quite a few Black women reach out to me and thank me for sharing my story. It brought me joy to know that being open about my experience helped others.

Too many people struggle in isolation and suffer in silence. Some of them may have already lost hope, and we want our story to be there to help them through.

We share our story so that other couples like us who are struggling know that it is possible, and it's worth trying.

Every Story Matters

National Infertility Awareness Week is about so much more than one week of awareness — it's about building momentum and changing the conversation around infertility for good.

As a longtime RESOLVE partner, Illume Fertility is committed to sharing the whole story: the hard parts, the hopeful parts, and everything in between.

Whether you're looking to learn, connect, or take your next step toward building a family, we're here.
